How do you create a digital banking brand that meets the needs of a globally connected diaspora while simplifying complex financial challenges?
Chaos partnered with All Africa Capital to shape the Afin brand, a name created by blending “Africa” and “Finance” to reflect both cultural identity and financial purpose. The project focused on developing a clear brand strategy and DNA, anchored in the proposition “Effortless banking to empower you.”
Through insight-led research, we explored the specific challenges faced by the West African diaspora, including high transfer fees, complex onboarding and limited access to seamless digital banking solutions. This informed a brand positioning centred on simplicity, accessibility and trust.
The resulting brand DNA is supportive, purposeful and inclusive. Providing a strong strategic foundation for Afin’s growth as a fintech platform. It establishes a clear, differentiated identity within the digital banking sector while resonating with a global audience seeking more intuitive and reliable financial services.

How do you launch a new digital bank with a brand that balances cultural relevance and modern fintech innovation?
Chaos created the Afin brand by blending cultural personality with a contemporary, tech-led design approach. The result is a vibrant visual identity that reflects both heritage and digital ambition, anchored by a custom “A” symbol representing connection and community.
A distinctive graphic language was developed to support the brand system, including a “hug-like” element to convey support and trust, alongside directional forms symbolising seamless money transfers and digital connectivity. This approach helped simplify complex fintech concepts into an engaging and accessible brand experience.
The rollout included a comprehensive suite of assets across mobile app interfaces, debit cards and integrated advertising campaigns, ensuring a consistent digital brand experience across all touchpoints.
The result is a scalable fintech brand system that supports growth, strengthens customer engagement and positions Afin as a distinctive digital banking platform within the West African market.
